The members, faculty, and staff of the CLO Institute are committed to developing strategic educational programming
specifically for Chief Learning Officers and emerging leaders in the learning community. Our learning programs address
the critical requirements of public, private, nonprofit, and educational organizations and prepare learning executives to
apply proven business practices to enterprise challenges.
Members have the option to pursue designated certifications from the CLO Institute,
the only international organization dedicated to developing, monitoring, and maintaining a program of certification
for professionals who want to excel in a career as a Chief Learning Officer. The CLO Institute’s certification programs
are designed to encourage professional excellence and to provide an objective measure and recognition of expertise in
the management of learning organizations.
The CLO Instute is currently offering the following certifications:
Certified Chief Learning Officer
The Certified Chief Learning Officer (CCLO) designation has been designed for professionals who want to excel in
a career as a Chief Learning Officer. The focus of the program is to prepare learning professionals to integrate with
other C-Level business leaders. To become a Certified Chief Learning Officer (CCLO), members must meet the following
requirements:
- Education: Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or possess at least 10 years of experience and increasing responsibility in a learning organization
- Experience: Must possess at least 5 years of experience and increasing responsibility in a learning organization
- CLO Institute Curriculum: Must complete courses through Bellevue University
- Practical Applied Project: Must complete a practical applied project under the mentorship of CLO Institute faculty, which demonstrates the member’s mastery of the competencies represented within the CLO Institute Curriculum
- Certification Fees: Must submit all mandatory fees in a timely manner

- Annual Recertification: To maintain their certification, certificate holders must complete 1 course offered by the CLO Institute per year
